Sanasol_ a.m.e.p. is an Icelandic tale from the past coming back again on Thule Records.
A techno dub atmosphere from 1998 by Sanasol re-released on 2014.
We love all the tracks and we enjoy this record on a cloudy afternoon…. is the best!
Purl is Alveol and Alveol is Ludvig Cimbrelius. The man behind some amazing releases of drifting ambient and dub techno.
Above all his music is feelings and what we really love in this artist is his spirit reflected to his music 100%.
His words coming up on his profile as Alveol are very touching for people who live through the music and they express themselves with it.
Ambient is not an easy thing, and Purl knows how to do it. After my conversation with him I realised one more time that this kind of music is coming directly from the soul. It enlightens the mind and brings the catharsis. These are the feelings and the thoughts while listening his records.
Numerous LPs and EPs in various exquisite labels such as Dewtone Recordings, Absurde, Silent Season and Eter Records. Swedish cold nights warmed up with all this melodies and sounds like lullabies.
We are really happy to know some of the records that influenced such an artist. So we let him speak about them:
“There are plenty of genres that I love that are not represented on this list (like r’n’b, pop, 80-s soul and atmospheric drum & bass for example), but these are 10 artists and albums that in different ways have been deeply influential on my musical journey… in no particular order:
1) Stars of the Lid – the Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid
3) Harold Budd / Brian Eno With Daniel Lanois – The Pearl
4) Mnemonic45 – Live at Radio Kanal 103
5) Constance Demby – Sunborne
6) 154 – Strike
Apart from the above, he did not forget to mention Kate Bush and Björk some of his muses…
Thank you Purl!
“Music has always been a way for me to reconnect with expansive feelings, and I believe thats why I have felt such a strong passion for exploring this realm. To me, music is the language of the soul, translated into sound vibrations that we can percieve in the physical realm of this planet at this time. Ludvig Cimbrelius”
When you sometimes cannot be bothered to describe music, to use labels, styles and all that categories and many times useless definitions. Music is just soul and spirit. A state of mind.
When you find yourself in that mood at a certain time of the day, that you need something to accompany your existence, your special inner meeting with yourself, Dewtone is the answer. A fine record label from Vancouver. Ambient and techno vibes together eternally dancing.
Turn Dewtone’s radio on and let the sunday afternoon thoughts fly away.
Giegling is more than a group of friends, is more than a project, is more than some ideas coming together.
It was born in a classic student’s bar somewhere in Weimar, Germany. The right people in the right moment came together and just four parties were enough to mark the future of a what was label of the month some months ago on Resident Advisor.
The story was written at Giegling bar in Weimar in the mid ’00s were Konstantin with a group of friends, most of them students in the University of Bauhaus were approached by the owner so the party started.. Crazy vibes of cool people, without lights and jazzy, punk atmosphere came together creating the absolute ambient. The bar closed but Konstantin, Rafael, Dustin and Vril did not want to abandon what was born there. They captured the feeling and they gave birth to the Giegling label.
Their simple site, the whole atmosphere behind idea, the mysterious Prince of Denmark, the artworks and the overall aesthetics makes this label since its first steps just exciting with a stable evolution and great releases. Where elegancy can harmonically coexist with the underground. It is how we perceive as the essence of a proper rave.
A fine taste of what Giegling is by Prince of Denmark with the track Traumwurm released on the EP Südstadt on 2013.
Giegling has also a “child”, which is the label FORUM with two releases, one by Prince of Denmark and the LP Body and the other one by Vril, with the LP Torus, an album that stands out for us.

If you sometimes find yourself in Thessaloniki, Greece, don’t miss the opportunity for a proper dig in Playground record store.
Hidden somewhere in the side streets of the city centre representing 100% vinyl culture and pure quality.
Elias, the owner was there to assist us. Low profile but at the same time really friendly. Chatting with him about the past and the current local scene was a happy moment.
A small but well-equipped store with interesting offers and a big selection of house, electro, ambient, new wave and of course…techno. There’s a separate section with really good stuff from local artists and also labels from all over Europe we really appreciate. Delsin, Clone, FXHE, Dolly, Field etc.
Playground is preserving, in a nostalgic way, the atmosphere of the good days of the house and techno scene in that city of the North of Greece. Good memories from those underground beautiful nights with Elias on the decks of Zenit bar, transmitting all his passion for the music to the floor. A man that definitely marked the local scene with the Playground Store, its records and his own style. A pretty nostalgic moment for me going back there after two years.
Our analogue camera just captured the warmness of the place.
Our full support to Playground Record Store.
Thank you Elias!
You will find Playground record store on:
