Dimette (Thrènes, CH)  has a particularly special approach to her blend of electronic music. As a music collector, she has always been passionate about analog warmth and great fidelity sounds, which she contributes to not only as a performer but also as a record label co-founder with Threnes records. Dimette’s music bridges the gaps between various underground currents, including techno, dark, abstract, experimental techno and more. The result is a lush, organic and textural blend of atmospheres and beats with a rhythmic melancholic feel. Her top 5 beauties for 2017 are:

  1. Belief Defect- Decadent Yet Depraved- Raster
  2. Restive Plaggona- Silently Hopelessly- Thrènes
  3. Pact Infernal-Infernality- Horo
  4. Kangding Ray-Hyper Opal Mantis- Stroboscopic Artefacts
  5. Tzusing-東方不敗- L.I.E.S

Catoune.jpg

Catoune (DE) is the collaboration between Cathy Daniëls and Andrea Cichecki. Cathy and Andrea have been soul sisters for many years and shared the same dedication to music. Catoune consists of performing DJ sets as a duo, always responding to and embracing each other’s music and vibe while playing B2B. This drives their performance to very energetic and diverse heights, never shying away from the very depths of their record bags. And this collaboration is only the start of more goodness to come.

T.O.P. records: Cave Walls (Part One) by Rhyw

This was the debut of Rhyw aka Alex Tsiridis of Cassegrain on Shifted’s Avian. The record has been released in July 2017.

The EP consists of 5 tunes and it is a complete concept of electronic landscapes. From drony sounds and stretched experimental noise patterns to powerful slow/ driving techno beats. The record justifies its title “Cave Walls” through its last track” Aversion Two” which gradually cultivates an audio sensation of a claustrophobic cave.

1.Aversion to Memory
2.Vixen for Society
3.Iroquois
4.Sylvan
5.Aversion Two 03:49

T.O.P. records: Addremove- Clean Slate EP (Thrènes)

“Clean Slate is the first release from Addremove on Swiss label Thrènes. There isn’t a lot to say about Addremove himself or herself as he/she prefers to keep their identity unrevealed, at least for the moment, so let’s concentrate on the music.”

Addremove

We have been waiting for this release since the debut Thrènes album “Atheos” by Rotkeller. With their second release, Addremove, a mysterious dynamic and polymorphic project is landing on our turntables and it is definitely one of our T.O.P. records for 2017.

The special guest JK Flesh presents his own version of the Addremove’s “Crie“, managing to enchant the most demanding listeners, leading them to a daring mind dance and wandering.

An EP soundtrack for a dystopic reality curated by the super promising, sophisticated Swiss label. Not to be missed.

Tracks featured on the EP:

A1. Letter From Police
A2. When They Fall From The Sky
A3. Postal
B1. Crie
B2. Lurk
B3. Crie (JK FLESH Remix)

T.O.P. records: Ebi-Zen (Space Teddy,DE)

One of our favourite musicians is Susumu Yokota aka Ebi and today we recommend his album “Zen”. A blending of ambient and acid aesthetics and rhythms turning into a masterpiece released on the German Space Teddy label, in 1994.  This is an exceptional example of his genius, talent and progressive mind. Zen stands proudly alongside other little diamonds that Susumu Yokota has left behind, all scattered across the world of good electronic music.

Forthcoming T.O.P. records:Sciahri. Devotion SUBT101 – SUBT102 – SUBT103

SUBT103 Cover A side.jpgSUBT102 Cover A side.jpgSUBT101 Cover A Side.jpg

Sublunar is the new label founded by Sciahri and Dagdrom. The label sound focuses on deep and hypnotic textural techno and will represent the owners’ specific taste for both club effective techno as well as more experimental excursions. Each release is limited and hand-numbered.

Sciahri Press Pic 1.jpg

Sciahri

Their first output is a three 12″ Ep’s trilogy called ‘Devotion’ by one of the two owners Sciahri, the Florence based Dj and producer who has just released his second EP on Ilian Tape. As Sciahri somehow tries to create worlds and environments, the first chapter of this trilogy ‘Devotion – part 1′ represents the start of the journey, entering a dimension that is abstract yet solid and physical, full of vividly distinguishable details. The air is dense but there’s room to breathe and to let one’s body and mind engage with the narrative that develops over the course of the three tracks.
Devotion – Part 2 is the continuum of the journey into Sciahri’s dimension. The atmosphere here is as thick as it is unsettling. Leading the way, a dry, chunky aural flow that begins with ‘Shelter’ and then rarefies, taking a more angular yet diffused pattern with ‘Contortion’. The ending ‘Lineage’ then throws us in a mass of fog, a state of uncertainty where only hints of a beat are given.
The third part is the final stage of the journey into the author’s sonic environment. The pace is initially fast and energetic, with ‘Anathema’ and ‘Prostration’ exploring different areas of the frequency spectrum through mysterious yet functional techno arrangements, which then lead us to the closing track of this whole excursion, ‘Critical Devotion’, a slow-motion uplifting anthem that brings us back to the surface.

T.O.P. records:Koichi Shimizu– “Wholetone EP” [HTN002]

koichi.jpg

We have the honour to announce the forthcoming Holotone EP by the magician of electronic sounds, Koichi Shimizu. Holotone comes back dynamically with “Wholetone EP” A piece of astonishing quality, style and sound. The master behind it Koichi Shimizu is

” ….a peculiar case. A sound engineer and composer born in Japan, studied in New York City and based in Bangkok. His scope outranges the usual radar, spanning film, installations, concerts, music production – In Apichatpong Weerasethakul’s film “Syndromes and a Century”, for which Shimizu did the sound design, there is a particular passage called “Black Hole”. Shimizu and his partner in crime Yn/Federico Nitti (among others things visual artist for Inner8 and Shapednoise) deliver with the EP’s 3rd track “FK” a phantasmagoric stream, ever falling ever morphing, changing without ceasing, there is no essential difference between passing from one state to another and persisting in the same state. We would think that if there is heterogeneity, there has to be juxtaposition. But, in qualitative multiplicities, there is heterogeneity and no juxtaposition. The track, recorded as an improvisation, manifests in intuitive knowledge. Intuition then consists in entering into the thing, rather than going around it from the outside, the concept of play, a strategy without finality, what might be called blind tactics, the unity of chance and necessity in calculations without end.

Koichi Shimizu’s contribution to the Holotone Catalogue N°2 sounds like journeys from a ticket that exploded. Self organizing bodies without organs laying the blueprint for a soft machine spreading and fizzling towards available spaces or trickling downwards towards new spaces through fissures and gaps, eroding what is in its way. Drawing the tonal line from a cube to a tesseract, entering the Holotone realm.” (Mélanie l’Heuremaudit).

Oriens gradually arrives with its ritualistic veil and its technoid steps like from an  undiscovered planet. Spacey beats, subtle distortions melting our minds somewhere  in the middle of the dark room then a sprinkling all over our bodies with drops of teasing synths and sophisticated keys.

Rumble is a cheeky slow tune. Like a child walking around  carefree without real purpose trying sounds and keys until the moment that starts evolving, steadily turning into a mature electronic sound.

Wholetone plays with the words and gives a Whole paradigm for the modern electronic music sound. A blissfull melody with its experimental hint and its smashing base. This is the last track for the EP which will be released soon on  Daniele Antezza’s record label Holotone. A prologue that will keep us with suspense for the next little diamond.
